<hi style=afpcap>Yet another radial design, the Consolidated Vultee team produced a transport version of the B-36, which was at that time the largest cargo aircraft in the world. The XC-99 was evaluated by the parent company from their San Diego facility and by the Air Force, although the Douglas C-124 Globemaster fulfilled the requirement for an outsized transport aircraft. At the completion of its development work the XC-99 spent many years on public view close to Kelly AFB, Texas. </hi>
